Arrival at Trieste Airport. Upon arrival you will be met at the airport by your private guide and continue together to Slovenia. Transfer to a 3* hotel in Portorož or Piran. After a short rest you can explore the coastal town of Piran, which resembles a large open-air museum, with medieval architecture and a rich cultural heritage. Strolling along narrow medieval streets, you will fall in love with the city and its rich cultural heritage. Overnight in a hotel on the Slovenian coast.
After breakfast we will head to the capital city of Slovenia – Ljubljana. The highlights include the beautiful old town, Cathedral, Dragon Bridge, Castle and the Three Bridges Square. You may shop or explore the city on your own in the afternoon, while in the evening you could attend a traditional folklore evening with typical Slovenian food. Overnight in a 3* hotel in Ljubljana.
After breakfast we will head to Northeast Slovenia. The first stop will be in Ptuj, the oldest town in Slovenia – well-known for its rich culture, architecture, tasty food and extraordinary wine. Visiting a wine cellar and tasting wine. From Ptuj you continue to Savinja Valley, stop at the rock formation Igla, a needle shaped rock in the middle of the Savinja River gorge. Then we head on to the Logar valley, which many people call one of the most beautiful valleys in Europe. Overnight in Logar valley, private accommodation (farm).
After breakfast if you wish you could climb to Okrešelj, past one of the most famous waterfalls in Slovenia – the Rinka waterfall. Then continuing to Kamnik, one of the loveliest and oldest towns in Slovenia, which is surrounded by the beautiful Kamnik Alps and have a stroll through its medieval streets hiding various cultural styles. After getting to know Kamnik, we will visit Budnar’s house, a unique living museum, where you will learn to bake bread in a traditional way in a ‘smoke’ kitchen. At late afternoon we will continue to Gorenjska. Overnight stay close to Bled.
After breakfast we will drive through the picturesque landscape to the heart of the Slovenian Alpine region. The first stop is the Vintgar Gorge, one of the most popular natural features in Slovenia. The path through the Vintgar Gorge leads us over wooden bridges, through galleries along the river Radovna rushing through the picturesque gorge – 1600m long and more than 100m deep. The gorge ends at the 26-metre Šum waterfall. Later we depart to Bled, which is often mentioned as the »Pearl the Alpine region«. Famous for the emerald-green lake, romantic church on the island in the middle of the lake and a medieval castle from the 11th century perched on the cliff overlooking the lake. Leisure time in Bled and a trip to the island on a traditional lake boat called “Pletna”. After tasting the exquisite sour milk and Bled’s famous Kremšnita (cream cake), we continue our journey to Lake Bohinj, the largest glacial lake in Slovenia. We will have time to relax at the side of the peaceful lake and enjoy the beautiful scenery of the mountains rising high above. Overnight stay close to Bled.
After breakfast we continue our drive to the Vršič pass – the highest Slovenian road pass – and through the beautiful Trenta valley with the emerald Soča River. Visit the Trenta museum with impressive exhibitions of the Trenta valley’s ethnic, cultural and historical heritage. Along the way there will be some stops for magnificent views and photo moments. Overnight near Tolmin/Most na Soči.
After breakfast you continue to the Karst region, to the Lipica Stud Farm, home of the Lipizzaner horse. Nowadays it is one of the most beautiful cultural and historical monuments of Slovenia, its rich history reaching back to the year 1580, when Habsburg Archduke Carl founded it. Near Lipica you can also visit Postojna Cave, which ranks among the most important caves in the world, representing a must see underground phenomenon. Take a train tour around magnificent galleries, stalagmites and of course, meet our “baby dragon”, Human Fish. Overnight in the Karst region.
